Abu Dhabi: A total of 2,136 lighting posts have been installed in the capital’s Khalifa City suburb, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today (November 14).
Electric cables have also been extended over 100 kilometres to connect the lamps and light up the suburb, it added. Another 925 posts will also be set up soon.
“The municipality targets lighting nearly 40 per cent of internal roads in Khalifa City by the end of this year, while all other sectors will follow suit in the first quarter of next year” said Eisa Al Mazroui, acting executive director of municipal assets and infrastructure at the municipality.
The lights will all be LED fixtures, which save 67 per cent of energy consumed by conventional lighting.
